VACANCY: Winnipeg FIR Facility Engineer (ZWG5)

With work in the FIR picking up and upgrades to our sector files needed, the Winnipeg FIR is pleased to accept applicants for the Facility Engineer position!

We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work on our team. A real team player, who represents Winnipeg FIR and shows our character to the world. Reporting to the FIR Chief and Deputy Chief, as well as VATCAN’s Executive Team if applicable. The position will managing our various sector-related files, updating AeroNav to continue to reflect real-world radar screens, and more.

POSITION: Winnipeg Facility Engineer

REPORTS TO: Winnipeg FIR Chief, Deputy Chief & VATCAN Executive Team (if Applicable)

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Handling of the Winnipeg FIR’s sector files, as well as (but not limited to) the following:

– Managing and updating the Winnipeg FIR (CZWG)'s sector files and related assets. – Ensuring airports, layouts and procedures reflected in sector files are accurate and correct. – Implementing and overseeing upgrades to sector files when applicable. – Coordinating with neighboring FIRs & ARTCCs to ensure compatibility of sector files, when required. – Working with the FIR Staff to ensure accuracy of files, while remaining understandable for all controllers. – Additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards:

– Be a member of good standing in VATCAN for more than one year at the time of application. – Demonstrated ability to make and keep commitments. – Expectation of availability to attend all scheduled meetings for the duration of the meeting and engage daily in email and voice communications with other VATCAN executive members. – Experience with GNG - AeroNav, or equivalent experience editing and updating sector files. – Be able to work effectively and build relationships within a volunteer organization.
